What is Coaching?

According to the International Coach Federation, coaching is “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential…. Professional coaching focuses on setting goals, creating outcomes and managing personal change.” 

I work with clients through 1:1 personalized conversations, tailoring our approach to your needs. Our work is confidential and designed to suit your goals and focus areas, build on your values and strengths to get you more of what you want in life and work, and less of what you don’t want on the path to becoming the best version of YOU.

Imagine someone who would like to learn to play a musical instrument. One might first begin by taking 1:1 lessons, then join an ensemble like band or orchestra.

In the same way, coaching is like taking strategic 1:1 lessons to bring out your best and use helpful tools to learn any new strategies needed. You could spend hours, years, and a lifetime growing as a musician; and it’s no surprise that we need to keep growing as adults throughout our lives just this same way.

Coaching is like music lessons for the spirit, heart, and mind. And group coaching can be like joining a band, where you learn and grow with other like-minded people, and share your own contributions as well.

Does Coaching Work?

Coaching processes and activities can help you stop experiencing the same challenges day after day and make real changes that help  you perform better and enjoy relationships, life, and work more. This happens by slowing down automatic thoughts and designing intentional thinking, feeling, and behaviors that build what you want to experience. There is no instant solution or “magic bullet.” Coaching only works if you do. You don’t have to be perfect, but you do need to regularly work your plan to get what you want. Coaching has worked for me in all areas of my life, and it can work for you too.

How is Coaching Different from Therapy?

Coaching focuses on envisioning success, the present situation, and developing through that gap while moving toward the future. In coaching, we build around strengths. In contrast, therapy typically emphasizes psychopathology, diving into the past to understand the present, managing past issues, and healing (CoachingFederation.Org).

What is the Coaching Experience?

We work together through personalized 1:1 sessions conducted virtually via ZOOM, tailored to your needs, objectives, and challenges. I follow the ICF Code of Ethics and maintain confidentiality.
